Select, use and care for engineering power tools

Purpose:

Power tools are multipliers of our strength and should be handled with care. Some of them are extremely dangerous such as angle grinders which cause many serious accidents in our industry. You must be properly trained in the use and care for power tools in order to ensure your safety and the safety of fellow workers.

The select, use and care of power tools requires that it will at all times be able to meet safety, legislative, environmental, equipment and production requirements. In order to achieve this all power tools must be correctly selected, used and cared for such that it will meet with the relevant safety requirements and standards.

The aim of this manual is to help the trainee to develop basic skills in the use of a range of power tools. It has been designed to cover most general power tools used in engineering.
